The first Batman sequel takes a wicked turn with the villainous exploits of the freakish and mean-spirited Penguin (Danny DeVito), whose criminal collaboration with evil tycoon Max Shreck (Christopher Walken) threatens to drain Gotham City of its energy supply. As if that wasn't enough, Batman (Michael Keaton) has his hands full with the vengeful Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer), who turns out to be a lot more dangerous than a kitten with a whip. As with the first Batman feature, director Tim Burton brings his distinct visual style to the frantic action but this time there's a darker malevolence lurking beneath all that extraordinary production design. --Jeff Shannon
It's the most keenly fought battle in cricket and for the first time in almost 20 years England had a realistic chance of victory! After the first Test at Lords - and an emphatic Australian win - the seeds of doubt spread for what seemed another summer of misery for English cricket. However England were to turn the aggressive style of cricket for which Australia had been so famed over the last decade to their advantage and turn the series around in some of the most dramatic Test matches ever played. At Edgbaston England survived a last ditch Australian fight back to complete a thrilling two run victory to bring the series level. Then it was up to Old Trafford for more high drama as Brett Lee and Ricky Ponting stoically batted out the day to deny England another victory. Then on to Trent Bridge where England - after yet again out-scoring the Australian's in the first innings and here making them follow on for the first time in 16 years - held there nerve in the form of Matthew Hoggard and Ashley Giles to knock off the remaining runs of a meagre 129 run winning total. So after memorable individual performances high drama and controversy it had come down to one game. One match to decide the Ashes. If England win or draw they are coming home if the Australians - still a world class team and surely due some big performances - win then they would retain the Ashes and the series would be drawn. With cricket fever gripping the country a nation waited... The rest - as they say - is history. Enjoy this action-packed triple disc DVD set with extended highlights from all the test matches with unseen material behind the scenes chat and footage of the amazing celebrations. The Ashes have been brought home and in what style!

Often hailed as the greatest ever British sitcom, Fawlty Towers is closer to the more elaborate tradition of farce. Comprising two series made in 1975 and 1979, the total of just 12 episodes were painstakingly constructed by writers John Cleese and Connie Booth. Unlike most British farce, however, Fawlty Towers deals with the big themes--death, psychology, xenophobia and even sex-o-phobia (Basil's marriage to Sybil is the most sterile ever depicted in a sitcom).Basil's contempt for his guests is, of course, legendary. It takes little from patrons to unleash his sledgehammer sarcasm: "Rosewood, mahogany, teak? Sorry, I was wondering what you'd like your breakfast tray made out of," he sneers at a guest who dares request breakfast in bed. Like every Englishman, he wants to be king of his own castle and resents having to take in lodgers to maintain the place, especially the open-necked younger generation, whom he regards as sub-human. Mostly, though, Fawlty Towers is comedy of exasperation--who can forget the "damn good thrashing" Basil gives his clapped-out car, or the nervous breakdowns he almost suffers trying to make himself understood to Manuel? It's also comedy of embarrassment. The very fear of losing his dignity generally leads Basil into the most spectacularly undignified of predicaments. His inevitable misery is our sheer delight.--David StubbsSeries 2: Communication Problems The Psychiatrist Waldorf Salad The Kipper and the Corpse The Anniversary Basil the Rat

The original 7 Up, broadcast in 1964 as a World in Action special, featured children from widely different social backgrounds sharing their hopes and dreams for the future. Inspired by World in Action founder editor Tim Hewat's passionate interest in both the Jesuit saying: Give me the child until he is seven and I will show you the man and his anger at Britain's rigid class system, this unique, groundbreaking series set out to discover how far the children's lives were pre-determined by their background. Director Michael Apted has returned every seven years to chart the group's progress, documenting the participants as they have become adults and now reach retirement age, dealing with everything life has thrown at them in between with life-changing decisions, shocking announcements and joy and tears in equal measure. The very first example of a programme recording real people living real lives, the Ups have won an array of awards over the years. This very special set contains every instalment in this ground-breaking series from 7 through to 63.

Andrew Graham-Dixon and Giorgio Locatelli's latest Italian adventure brings them to Rome in search of the greatest food and art that they can find off the beaten track. To really understand Rome, you must understand its people - or the mob, as they were known in ancient times. As Giorgio Locatelli and Andrew Graham-Dixon explore Italy's iconic capital, they are in search of the generations of ordinary Romans who have left their mark on the city's culture and gastronomy. Giorgio insists that they travel, in true Roman style, by moped. They start their journey at the Trevi fountain, immortalised in Fellini's La Dolce Vita - which itself featured countless locals as extras to capture the real faces of Rome. Giorgio leads Andrew to some of his personal favourite districts, including Garbatella, Italy's first 'garden suburb', with its vibrant market stalls and village architecture, and introduces him to the simplest Roman food - the true food of the people . He also insists on showing him how spaghetti carbonara should really be made - add cream and I'll kill you. In turn, Andrew introduces Giorgio to some of the most moving pictures by Caravaggio, the painter of the people , in what was once the city's foremost church for poor pilgrims - and they set out together to enjoy one of the great erotic masterpieces of Baroque painting. La Dolce Vita still exists, you just have to know where to find it. Includes subtitles for the Hard of Hearing.
