A beautiful and mysterious woman comes into a miss-if-blink Nevada town with a secret that threatens the status quo of the tightly knit group of women who run the town Monday through to Friday. Their men work at a dam a few hours away and can only return on the weekends for rowdy fun and raucous love. Her beauty and demeanour make Christy the obvious scapegoat for several of the women's frustrations and loneliness. Several others see her as a beacon of hope in an otherwise downtrodden existence. The ensuing conflicts sends their normally placid lives into a state of chaos. 'Nevada' is an insightful and witty exploration of the choices women must make in their lives as mothers lovers wives and as individuals.

The one film in John Cusack's filmography he'd probably like us all to forget, this 80s-style preppy-in-peril film (compare and contrast with After Hours and Something Wild) casts him as a college student who gets mixed up with pirates and drug runners around the Caribbean. The wannabe screwball comedy falls flatter with each gag but Cusack's hang-dog sweetness and knack with one-liners carries it through and at the very least it's worth catching if only for a glimpse of Ben Stiller in his pre-There's Something About Mary fame days, in a double act here with his real-life father Jerry Stiller. --Leslie Felperin

There's Something About Mary is one of the funniest films in years, recalling the days of the Zucker-Abraham-Zucker movies, in which (often tasteless) gags were piled on at a fierce rate. The difference is that co-writers and co-directors Bobby and Peter Farrelly have also crafted a credible story line and even tossed in some genuine emotional content. The Farrelly brothers' first two pictures, Dumb and Dumber and Kingpin, had some moments of uproarious laughter, but were uneven. With Mary, they've created a consistently hilarious romantic comedy, made all the funnier by the fact that you know that they know that some of their gags go way over the line. Cameron Diaz stars as Mary, every guy's ideal. Ben Stiller plays a high-school suitor still hung up on her years later; the obstacles standing between him and her include a number of psychotic suitors, a miserable little pooch and, oh yeah, a murder charge. The Farrellys' admittedly simplistic camera work, which adapts easily to a TV screen, and the fact that you'll likely to laugh yourself so silly over certain scenes you'll want to replay them to see what you were missing while you were busy convulsing, make this a perfect film for home-viewing. --David Kronke, Amazon.com

Suffering from migraines and tormented by his memories and his dreams, Mackelway is immediately assigned to investigate the murder of a travelling salesman. Soon, he is investigating three similar murders and receiving mysterious faxes and notes from the killer, a former government agent named Benjamin O'Ryan (Ben Kingsley). O'Ryan was part of an elite squad that was trained in remote viewing. Able to tune into the sights, sounds, and feelings of victims and killers, O'Ryan enters a trancelike state and draws the gruesome scenes that lead him to the crime and the killer. Unfortunately, he is unable to turn this ability off, and has slowly been going mad and taking justice into his own hands. Thinking he's found a kindred spirit in Mackelway, O'Ryan pulls him deeper into the hunt for 'Suspect Zero', the ultimate killer. This feature from director E. Elias Merhige (SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE) also stars Carrie-Ann Moss as Mackelway's partner, who tries to keep Mackelway from going over the edge.
