This sensational DVD sees Benny Goodman and his band performing some of the all time favourites in what was to prove his final concert at the Tivoli Gardens in Sweden.Although from a poverty stricken family Benny Goodman had music in his life from an early age and by 1921 when only 12 years old he appeared on stage imitating bandleader and clarinettist Ted Lewis catching the eye of Ben Pollack in the process who invited him to join his band. From that chance meeting the scene was set for the beginning of a career that helped to change the course of modern day music. When the home of music de-camped to New York Goodman followed and turned freelance playing with such luminaries as Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey. But in 1934 he formed his own band featuring Bunny Berigan on trumpet Jess Stacey on piano and Gene Krupa on drums; add to that lineup the talents of arranger Fletcher Henderson and the birth of 'swing' had arrived.A fabulous reminder of the 'swing' revolution.Performance listing:1.
