In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups. The police who investigate crime, and the Crown Prosecution Service who prosecute the offenders. The genuine East End, copper Detective Sergeant Ronnie Brooks, and his friend and partner, the charming Detective Sergeant Matt Devlin Hornblower, Ultimate Force, have their approach to policing part seduction part force. Both report to Detective Inspector Natalie Chandler (a working mother), who supports them through thick and thin. The legal side of the equation is covered by the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) team, the dedicated Senior Crown Prosecutor James Steel, a man dedicated to the pursuit of justice, and the hard working some would say workaholic, strong-willed young prosecutor Alesha Phillips; and the final member of the team is their boss and the respected CPS director George Castle, a man who always has to tread the line between his ideals and conscience and the bigger picture.
