  If you were a kid in the early 1960s, then you saw The Parent Trap with Hayley Mills--it's as simple as that. Adversaries when they first meet at camp, Hallie and Annie become, well, sisters when they figure out that they are siblings. The comedy springs from their efforts to sabotage Dad's impending marriage to the gold-digging Elaine Hendrix, while reintroducing Dad to Mom. Hughes's direction is not as focused as it was only a few years before, but there's no mistaking his touch.
