This wonderful documentary features an in-depth look at the life and career of Argentina's all-time leading goal scorer the irrepressible Gabriel Batistuta. Born in Avellaneda on the 1st February 1969 Gabe rose to fame as a 17-year old plying his trade for the world famous Argentinean club River Plate. Desperate to emulate his heroes Kempes Ardilles and Villa Batistuta soon found great success in the Copa America in 1978 finishing as the top scorer. Soon the lira came calling and a move to Fiorentina was to earn him the nickname 'Batigol' ('hits goals'). Serie A was bowled over by the handsome but deadly hit-man and he was prominent in the goal scoring charts throughout his Italian club career. Eventually he would go on to achieve even greater success at Roma where he helped the 'Giallorossi' win their first championship in 18 years. His goals record for Argentina is without peer banging in 56 goals in 78 games and he has always been a deadly marksman at the World Cup's he's participated in. Recently retired Batistuta has a wonderful career to look back on. This documentary features interviews with residents from Gabe's hometown and the people who were influential in his life. Not only that but Batistuta himself offers his own thoughts on his achievements. With a smattering of top quality footage of 'Batigol' in action this is ideal viewing for fans of the player and the game.
