Churchill is transformed into a handsome G.I. in this spoof of the American way of rewriting and re-devising history from the writer and director of "Stella Street".
NOW IT CAN BE TOLD (1946) recreates the top secret missions of British agents behind enemy lines during the Second World War. What makes the film so unusual and compelling is that the 'stars' of the film are the real life secret agents themselves, replaying their wartime roles in front of the cameras. Captain Harry Ree and Jacqueline Nearne faithfully recreate their wartime missions as agents 'Felix' and 'Cat'. Together, they help to sabotage Nazi troops in occupied France and to assist the A.

The second instalment of John Ford's famous cavalry trilogy, this meditative Western continues the director's fascination with history's obliteration of the past. It features one of John Wayne's more sensitive performances as Capt. Nathan Brittles, a stern yet sentimental war horse who has difficulty preparing for his impending military retirement. All things considered, he refuses to leave before fulfilling his obligation to the local Indian tribe. It's a film about honour and duty as well as loneliness and mortality. And Oscar-winner Winton C. Hoch beautifully photographs it in Remington-like Technicolor tones (you've never seen such stunning cloud-covered skies). The combination of melancholy and farce (Victor McLaglen makes a perfect court jester) evokes comparisons to Shakespeare. Best of all, the scene in which Wayne fights back tears when receiving a gold watch from his troops is unforgettably bittersweet. If you view the whole trilogy, it actually makes sense to save this for last. --Bill Desowitz, Amazon.com

A comedy about what really goes on behind the screens in a big city hospital.
In 1987 moviegoers had yet to be crushed under the weight of the 1990s TV remake mania, and Dragnet comes off as fresh and funny. The line between parody and tribute can be hard to draw, but any marginally hip baby boomer who has ever watched Jack Webb's straight-laced Detective Joe Friday caught a glimmer of the comedic vein waiting to be mined beneath Dragnet's gritty Los Angeles streets. Dan Aykroyd plays Joe Friday, the straight-arrow nephew of Webb's iconic cop. This part was made for him (in fact, he's given top writing credit), and under his steely exterior you can tell he's having a ball delivering those rapid-fire recitations of regulations and deadpan expressions of moral outrage. Tom Hanks plays Pep Streebek, the laissez-faire narco agent who is Friday's new partner. Their assignment: bust the Pagans, a wild-and-woolly gang of dope fiends, deadbeats, and beatniks behind a bewildering array of bizarre robberies. Hilarity ensues. Friday and Streebek outfox a corrupt televangelist (Christopher Plummer), bicker over chili dogs and cigarettes, alternately revile and fawn over a porn millionaire (Dabney Coleman), wrestle a 30-foot-long anaconda, and rescue the virgin Connie Swail--the only girl capable of stealing Friday's heart. --Grant Balfour, Amazon.com
In November 1922, Howard Carter and his backer, Lord Carnarvon, make an extraordinary discovery in the Valley of the Kings, the sacred burial ground of the pharaohs, near Luxor: the tomb of the frail young king, Tutankhamen. But the rumour of an ancient curse, of impending grief and disaster, threatens to mar their triumph... A stellar cast - including Tom Baker, Eva Marie Saint, Robin Ellis, Wendy Hiller, Raymond Burr and Harry Andrews - feature in this lavish HTV drama, filmed on location in Egypt and based on Barry Wynne's bestselling Behind the Mask of Tutankhamen. A small army of over 70 actors and technicians travelled to the Valley of the Kings to make the film, but this stunning, highly authentic production - allocated a budget of over two million pounds - was not without its own drama; the most frightening in a series of on-set incidents saw Ian McShane, originally cast as Carter, narrowly escaping serious injury when his car plunged over a 40ft cliff, leaving several cast and crew members feeling decidedly uneasy about the legend of an ancient curse!
The savage story of a city stripped naked! Detective Dan Madigan (Richard Widmark) runs roughshod over the police rule book - and over anyone who gets in his way during an intensive 72-hour police manhunt for a hit man. His superior officer Commissioner Anthony Russell (Henry Fonda) lives by and for the book as he copes with the workday problems of police administrative work. These two men's lives come together when the psychotic is cornered in a Manhattan tenement by a police raiding squad led by Madigan and Russell - a confrontation that only one of the two men will survive.
Deadly Weapons: Crystal (Morgan), a woman with freakishly huge 73' breasts, avenges her beloved Harry after he is gunned down by hitmen in New York City.; ; Double Agent '73: Chesty now plays Jane, a top-notch secret agent who's vacationing at a nudist camp (and sporting big ol' red platforms, hot pants and an unusual sling around her pendulous boobs!).
