Starring Andy Lau (World Without Thieves Battle of Wits House of Flying Daggers Infernal Affairs Trilogy) and Jacky Cheung (Ashes of Time Redux Days of Being Wild Bullet in the Head) reprise their triad boss-lieutenant relationship from Wong Kar Wal's debut As Tears Go By adjusted here for age and experience. Built around a twin plot structure starring Shawn Yue (Dragon Tiger Gate Dragon Squad Infernal Affairs Trilogy) and Edison Chen (The Dark Knight The Grudge 2 Initial D Infernal Affairs Trilogy) as younger Triad members on the make it bears a similar relationship to HK Triad cinema as The Godfather 2 Once Upon A Time In America and Goodfellas do to US Mob cinema.
The Han Brothers are bounty hunters and would be making some good money tracking down criminals... except they keep getting beaten to the catch by the female duo the the two witches. But when both camps want to catch the ultimate fugitive they realize the only way to do it is to join forces. An inspired sense of humour and fantastic fight choreography (led by Jacky Cheung) colours this Hong Kong action parody which dazzles in its own right.
As Tears Go By is the tale of two lowly gangsters Ah Wah and his side-kick Fly trapped in a endless downward spiral of violence and vengeance. When Ah's cousin arrives from Kowloon she brings with her the hope of life away from the non-stop savagery and corruption. Escape from their past however is impossible and 'the life' soon catches up with the pair of them after Fly's hair-trigger temper lands them in trouble with the Triads again.
