In teen comedy 100 Girls, self-described "tragically glib" college freshman Jonathan Tucker finds true love in a girls' dorm elevator during a blackout, but when he forgets to get her name he has 100 suspects to sift through, one by one. It may sound like the premise of just another teen sex farce, but writer-director Michael Davis makes it the starting point of the boy's getting of wisdom. Amiable young star Tucker brings an excited and endearing innocence to his journey, and Emmanuelle Chriqui is a delight as the "promiscuous" girl who teaches him a thing or three about crippling stereotypes. Larisa Oleynik, Jaime Pressly, Marissa Ribisi and Katherine Heigl are just a few of the other girls who help him along. 100 Girls is a refreshingly frank, funny and sexy exploration of the dynamics of young men and women and the power of first impressions, reputations and expectations. --Sean Axmaker

Richard Strauss's wildest and most passionate opera gets an almost ideal performance in this 1989 production with three great female singers at the height of their powers. Marton is terrifyingly unreasonable as Elektra, determined to mourn her dead father in the face of her mother who had him killed, and to hope and pray for the vengeance that her brother will one day bring. Told he is dead, her emotional collapse is equally total, and her eventual self-destructive dance of triumph is a bittersweet ecstasy of anger and joy. Studer gives the sometimes underplayed role of the normal, compromising "feminine" sister the weight and sympathy Strauss intended it to have. Fassbaender is electric as Clytemnestra, collapsing under the weight of her guilt and paranoia, but still scarily sexy and regal in her manipulation of those around her. Abbado's conducting is electric--from the opening "Agamemnon" chords to the final dying fall of Elektra's dance, he never puts a foot wrong or misjudges the pacing of this most difficult of opera scores. The DVD has subtitles in English, German and French. --Roz Kaveney

In 1972, before the internet, before the explosion of the adult film industry, Deep Throat was a phenomenon: the first scripted pornographic theatrical feature film, featuring a story, some jokes, and an unknown and unlikely star, Linda Lovelace (Amanda Seyfried; Les Miserables). Escaping a strict religious family, Linda discovered freedom and the high-life when she fell for and married charismatic hustler Chuck Traynor (Peter Sarsgaard; TVs The Killing). As Linda Lovelace she became an international sensation-less centerfold fantasy than a charming girl-next-door with some 'impressive skills'. Fully inhabiting her new identity, Linda became an enthusiastic spokesperson for sexual freedom and uninhibited hedonism. Six years later she presented another, utterly contradictory, narrative to the world-and herself, as the survivor of a far darker story. The all-star cast includes; Emmy Award winner Hank Azaria (The Simpsons), BAFTA winner Juno Temple (The Dark Night Rises), Adam Brody (Seeking a Friend for the End of the World), Academy Award nominee James Franco (127 Hours), Golden Globe nominee Chris Noth (Sex and The City), Emmy Winner Bobby Cannavale (TVs Nurse Jackie), Wes Bentley (The Hunger Games), Robert Patrick (Gangster Squad), Debi Mazar (Collateral), Eric Roberts (The Expendables, The Dark Night), Academy Award nominee Sharon Stone (Casino, Basic Instinct), and Academy Award nominee Chloe Sevigny (Boys Don't Cry).

This ultimate war collection brings you six classic movies of all time. Disc One Play Dirty An out-of-his-depth oil executive, Capt. Douglas (Michael Caine), is ordered to guide a tough band of convicts, including the cynical and possibly treacherous Capt. Leech (Nigel Davenport), to destroy a Nazi fuel depot in North Africa during World War II. Though it's probably a suicide mission, it has to be completed. But the mission, the enemy and the brutal desert aren't the only things Douglas has to worry about, as it becomes clear that Leech is undermining his authority at every turn Disc 2 Submarine X-1 A special group of navy divers is created when a disabled Nazi warship is discovered in a fjord in Norway. Commander Bolton (James Caan) is the Canadian expert designated to train the new unit. Their mission is to plant a bomb on the warship as it undergoes repairs. Spectacular underwater photography is seen in this World War II adventure story based on an actual mission Disc 3 Hornet's Nest Rock Hudson stars as Captain Turner, leading a detachment of US Army paratrooper saboteurs dropped behind the German lines in Italy. Its mission is to blow up a strategic dam. However, the unit is ambushed and only Turner survives. Disc 4 Beach Red Ordered to help secure a heavily defended Japanese island during World War II, Captain MacDonald (Cornel Wilde) and his Marines land on Beach Red and proceed inland against stubborn, murderous resistance. MacDonald is supported by his tough-as-nails gunnery sergeant (Rip Torn), soulful Private Egan (Burr DeBenning) and a group of stalwart Marines who try to block out the horrors that surround them by remembering the women they love back home. Disc 5 Attack on the Iron Coast Commando Major Jamie Wilson plans an audacious Combined Operations raid on the Axis held French port of Le Clare; if destroyed the Germans would be stripped of their only dry dock capable of servicing their large battleships. Wilson's plan is to ram a destroyer packed with tons of explosives into the outer gate of the dock. Under pressure from Winston Churchill, Wilson's plan is given the go-ahead even though the naval craft requested for the mission are reduced to a minesweeper replacing the destroyer, no escort craft and only four motor launches. Disc 6 The 1000 Plane Raid Colonel Greg Brandon (Christopher George), an American serving at a Royal Air Force base in England, has a grand military dream: a risky plan to send a fleet of 1,000 bombers to a German airplane factory as a strategic strike. Brandon badgers his commanding officers until he has his way, losing friends and alienating people as he goes. When the raid arrives, Brandon sees the wisdom and valor of his fellow soldiers and realizes that caution is just as important as zeal.
