China's vast landscape is the setting for this suspenseful chase-adventure. An American pilot if forced to parachute into the clutches of the Japanese army who hold him for information and promptly stages a daring escape. The hunt for the P.O.W. begins! However the Yankee pilot has mysterious allies in the form of Chinese guerrillas protecting him from the Japanese pursuers every step of the way. These martial arts maestros will do everything they can to protect their symbolic friend against the Japanese tyrants.
China's vast landscape is the setting for this successful Second World War adventure. Four American pilots are forced to parachute into Japanese Army occupied China. Two pilots are killed immediately one Thomas Anderson is captured and taken to the Japanese headquarters for interrogation.Only Joe escapes and is immediately befriended by a group of four Chinese guerrillas each with an axe to grind against the Japanese. The leader Wang Lung with his team pledges to protect Joe and defend him so that he may escape. Unfortunately the captured pilot is interrogated by lieutenant Kafka (Robert Baker) a Gestapo officer who has been sent by Germany to help their Japanese allies with any military issues. Kafka is a sadistic and brutal soldier and kills the pilot whilst under initial interrogation. Now the chase is on to get Joe out of the country and using clever disguises and superior martial arts techniques it leads to many confrontations with the enemy with a fierce and desperate conclusion. Robert Baker (Fist Of Fury) re-invents his evil martial arts mercenary role only this time instead of being a Russian he plays a nasty nazi who becomes obsessed with capturing the America pilot to prove himself in front of his Japanese comrades.
Bloody Fists is definitely one of the most violent and dark films from the early '70's Japanese vs.Chinesesub-genre. This was Ng See-Yuens first directorial effort and Yuen Wo Ping's second action directorial credit goes unnoticed as his latter trademarks including humor dynamic choreography and fluid wirework would not begin to surface until later in his career. A non-stop chuckle out of the surgical tubing that miraculously becomes a defensive kung fu style! Two bungling conmen are mistaken for expert martial artists hired to protect a town from a gang.
