Kurtis Blow was the first commercially successful solo Rap artist and the first rapper to sign an album deal with a major label with mainstream success. Along with this accolade came other firsts such as the first who received certified gold for one of the first mainstream Rap hits (The Breaks in 1980) and the first hip hop artist who went on a national and international concert tour. Commercially speaking he was also the first rapper to record a national commercial for Sprite the first rapper to use the sample loop and finally the first rapper with a music video clip (Basketball). Kurtis Blows also branched out into production and scored major success as a producer producing artists like the Fat Boys Run DMC. He was also voted Rap's producer of the year 1983 / 85 and considered to be the first Hip Hop millionaire. He released 10 albums over 11 years with an endless list of hit songs. This DVD captures Kurtis on the Hip Hop Anniversary tour of Germany in 2008 and finds Kurtis in his element in front of a wildly enthusiastic audience.
