These five feature-length adaptations bring all the wit elegance and style of one of England's classiest detectives to the scene of the crime - five crimes to be exact - each one presenting an interesting challenge for this sharp-witted mastermind. Join Lord Peter Wimsey as he uncovers the mysteries of: Clouds of Witness; The Unpleasantness at The Bellona Club; Murder Must Advertise; The Nine Tailors; and Five Red Herrings. Set Comprises: Clouds Of Witness: During the Wimsey family retreat in Yorkshire Captain Cathcart the fiancee of Lord Peter's (Ian Carmichael) sister Mary Winsey receives an unwelcomed letter causing him to flee Riddlesdale Lodge in the middle of the night. But he is not the only one with departure plans. One Wimsey plans to escape in the early hours of the morning until she finds a body in the garden. The Unpleasantness At The Bellona Club: The plot of The Unpleasantness At The Bellona Club takes a new turn concentrating not on who did it? but moreover when was it done? A vast inheritance depends on the timing of the deaths of an elderly brother and sister - the sequence of deaths is the Big Question. Once this is established only then can Peter Wimsey's sleuthing turn to who the murderer is... Murder Must Advertise: The aristocratic sleuth Lord Peter Wimsey investigates the death of a young copywriter at a top advertising agency. Can Lord Peter solve the crime before more deaths occur? The Nine Tailors: At the wedding of Sir Charles Thorpe's son an extremely valuable emerald necklace belonging to Lady Wilbraham is stolen. Thanks to Lord Wimsey's quick thinking the culprits are apprehended although the whereabouts of the jewels remain a mystery. Many years later when a mutilated unidentified corpse is found in the grave of the recently deceased Lady Thorpe Wimsey investigates and becomes embroiled in an attempt to recover the necklace that was stolen many years before. Five Red Herrings: When Lord Peter goes on holiday to Scotland he is hoping to do nothing more strenuous than catch some trout. Even Wimsey's loyal servant Bunter is looking forward to taking some time off to go painting. However when Bunter notices an easel in the distance but no sign of the artist Lord Peter is called into action. The easel belongs to an unpopular local artist Campbell whose body is discovered lying on the rocks below the popular vantage point. Was it an accidental fall? Wimsey suspects not and with six possible suspects he must use all of his detective skills to determine the five red herrings and expose the murderer.

  • Orgazmo [1999]Orgazmo | DVD | (20/03/2000) from £12.78   |  Saving you £3.20 (32.69%)   |  RRP £12.99

South Park co-creator Trey Parker goes straight for the gross-out humour in this live-action farce set in the adult-movie industry. Parker stars as an innocent Mormon kid who gets sucked into the world of pornographic film-making and becomes an international sensation as the stud superhero Orgazmo, all the while hiding his secret life from his milk-fed fiancée. It's practically a one-man show for Parker, who directs, writes, stars, and even performs the self-penned theme song as frontman for his rock band, and perhaps he should have spread the responsibilities a little. As an actor he's surprisingly appealing--his dazed grin and bleached white surfer-dude hair give him an engaging air of innocence. Paired with long-time crony Dian Bachar, the diminutive actor who plays his superhero sidekick Chodo Boy, they bring a Hardy Boys naiveté to the rude world of mobbed-up producers and jaded adult film stars. But the film is only fitfully funny, with vulgar jokes that are often more disgusting than humorous and clumsy comic timing sabotaging promising scenes. Only rarely does it reach the heights of his hilarious cut-out cartoon series South Park, but when he delivers he does so with the carefully cultivated tasteless excess his fans have come to know and love. Matt Stone co-stars as a clueless photographer while the real-life adult film star Ron Jeremy appears as a gross gangster henchman. --Sean Axmaker, Amazon.com

Jarrow-born Alan Plater was one of Britain's most cherished playwrights. Equally at home either adapting existing works or crafting his own stories the pinnacle of his prolific output is arguably the highly successful Beiderbecke trilogy starring James Bolam and Barbara Flynn. Plater excelled in the creation of credible engagingly ordinary characters embroiled in drama and intrigue (exemplified in Beiderbecke's jazz-loving Geordie woodwork teacher Trevor Chaplin); with a dry humour class consciousness and frequent acknowledgement of the north-south divide his skilful dialogue has been described as combining 'The voice of Coronation Street with the spirit of Chekhov'. The winner of three BAFTA Awards he received a CBE in 2005 and the Writers' Guild of Great Britain Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007. This anthology celebrates the diversity of Alan Plater's work for ITV with a collection of single plays and classic episodes featuring outstanding performances by Helen Mirren Kenneth Branagh James Bolam Alison Steadman Michael Gambon Dennis Waterman and Ray Brooks among many others. The Beiderbecke Affair: What I Don't Understand Is This... Jazz fan Trevor Chaplin wants only one thing: a set of Bix Beiderbecke records. Oranges and Lemons: Brotherly Love An ex-docker is grieved that his two sons seem irreconcilable. Play for Love: The Party of the First Part Peter makes sure his eighteenth birthday party is one that his guests won't forget. The Loner: Dawson's Complaint Dawson is a man who aims is to change the world. This is the story of his failure.
