Inspired by a true story, Dolphin Tale is about courage, ingenuity, and never giving up. Sawyer (Nathan Gamble) is a young boy who's struggling with school and doesn't have many friends other than his cousin Kyle (Austin Stowell). When Kyle, a star swimmer, joins the army to earn money for college and is called to active duty, it looks like Sawyer is destined to spend his summer alone tinkering in the garage and attending summer school. Sawyer stumbles upon a dolphin that's been severely injured, becomes fascinated by dolphins, and is suddenly intellectually engaged like never before. In spite of his shyness, he forms a friendship with marine rescue doctor Clay (Harry Connick Jr.) and his daughter Hazel (Cozi Zuehlsdorff) and, more importantly, a special and very powerful bond with the rescued dolphin, who's dubbed Winter. As the newly formed team struggles to save Winter's life and ensure her continued safety, financial concerns, an accident that leaves Kyle crippled for life, and a hurricane all seem to join forces against them. In the end, it is Sawyer's determination, coupled with a little bit of luck and a lot of ingenuity from an army doctor (Morgan Freeman) who specializes in prosthetics, that helps make each member of the team, including Kyle and Winter, whole again. The talented cast does a great job of creating completely believable characters, but Gamble, Zuehlsdorff, Connick, Freeman, Stowell, and of course Winter, who plays herself, all deserve special mention. While the story of an injured animal rescued and rehabilitated has certainly been told before, this film is emotionally powerful and will absolutely captivate children and adults alike. The dramatic story of the 1995 Rugby World Cup. Rugby has long been viewed in South Africa as a game for the white population and the country's success in the sport has been a true source of Afrikaner pride. When the 50-year-old policies and entrenched injustices of apartheid were finally overthrown in 1994 Nelson Mandela's new government began rebuilding a nation badly in need of racial unity. So the world was watching when South Africa played host to the 1995 Rugby World Cup. Though they had only one non-white player the South African Springboks gained supporters of all colours as they made an improbable run into the final match where they beat the heavily favored New Zealand team. When Mandela himself marched to the center of the pitch cloaked in a Springbok jersey and shook hands with the captain of the South African team two nations became one. Oscar winner Morgan Freeman and director Cliff Bestall will tell the emotional story of that cornerstone moment and what it meant to South Africa's healing process.

Unforgiven is a modern classic that summarizes everything I feel about the Western director/star Clint Eastwood told the Los Angeles Times. This American Film Institute Top-100 American Movies selection rode off with four 1993 Academy Awards including Best Picture Director Supporting Actor (Gene Hackman) and Editing (Joel Cox). Eastwood and Morgan Freeman play retired outlaws who pick up their guns one last time to collect a bounty. Richard Harris is an ill-fated killer-for-hire. And Hackman is a lawman of sly charm...and chilling brutality. Unforgiven is a Western for the ages (Kenneth Turan Los Angeles Times).

Focusing on the disappearance of a young girl within a crime-saturated neighbourhood Gone Baby Gone is an urban mystery of failure that mixes high-wire suspense with vivid characters and provocative themes. This dark hard-bitten and powerful adaptation of Dennis Lehane's haunting and emotional crime novel Gone Baby Gone sees Ben Affleck in his debut directorial role produce an intense crime thriller that is constantly surprising and deeply compelling. Dorchester a tough district of Boston where the gritty working class streets are lined with the wreckage of broken families and dreams is home to private investigator Patrick Kenzie (Casey Affleck). With professional partner and girlfriend Angela (Michelle Monaghan) Patrick investigates minor criminal cases. Their approachable tone and familiarity with the neighbourhood enables them to talk to people the police cannot. When four-year-old Amanda McCready (Madeline O'Brien) is abducted from her bedroom after her drug addicted mother Helene (Amy Ryan) leaves her alone the local police unit led by Capt. Jack Doyle (Morgan Freeman) and his ace detective Remy Bressant (Ed Harris) use all their resources to try and track the little girl down. With the police making no headway Patrick and Angela are bought in by Amanda's proud and virtuous aunt Bea to start their own investigation. As Patrick and Angela delve further down a path in to the dark heart of the neighbourhood they uncover an intensifying web of sordid lies and a labyrinthine maze of class corruption evil and innocence. With every clue or fact that is revealed tension mounts and much like Clint Eastwood's adaptation of Lehane's Mystic River Gone Baby Gone packs an emotionally powerful punch that keeps you ultimately involved and unaware of what is around the corner. By opting for a cast that consists of established and confident actors like Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris paired with real-life toughened Bostonians straight out of local pool-halls and clubs Ben Affleck has managed to portray the tough real feel of the streets of South Boston with natural grit and charm and has adapted Dennis Lehane's best-selling novel Gone Baby Gone in to a terrifying and intellectually engaging feature.

Clint Eastwood's 25th film as a director, Million Dollar Baby stands proudly with Unforgiven and Mystic River as the masterwork of a great American filmmaker. In an age of bloated spectacle and computer-generated effects extravaganzas, Eastwood turns an elegant screenplay by Paul Haggis (adapted from the book Rope Burns: Stories From the Corner by F.X. Toole, a pseudonym for veteran boxing manager Jerry Boyd) into a simple, humanitarian example of classical filmmaking. Eastwood mines gold for each and every character: charting the powerful bonds that develop between "white-trash" Missouri waitress and aspiring boxer Maggie Fitzgerald (Hilary Swank), her reluctant trainer Frankie Dunn (Eastwood), and training-gym partner Eddie "Scrap-Iron" Dupris (Morgan Freeman). --Jeff Shannon
