As they try to fend off the unrelenting attacks they have to face up to their prejudices and weaknesses at times fighting more amongst themselves than against the dead. Shot in black and white with minimal make-up and a very realistic look Romero delivers a simple yet disturbing feature which still receives much praise and debate today.
