No Cure introduces Denis Leary as a man who rants swears and hisses. Being the funniest of the American shock comedians this DVD is not for the faint hearted. Leary takes his audience through the bitter debate against non-smokers the politically correct and the crusading rock stars of the 80's and 90's pausing only to glorify simple meat-eating men like himself. Pleasure comes in small doses; it's a cigarette a chocolate chip cookie a five second orgasm. You come you eat the cookie you smoke the butt you go to sleep you get up you go to f***ing work. End of story okay!

Stars - The Small Faces. Kiki Dee & The Chantelles An all star cast of British actors all of whom will be familiar to British TV audiences - Conrad Phillips William Lucas George Mikell and Patsy Rowlands and a rare appearance form a young Kenny Everett. Kenneth Cope plays Lestor Benson the Small Faces manager who has a hitherto unknown criminal past. The threat of blackmail and it's likely destruction of the Small Faces' career leads him to agree to smuggle diamonds into Amsterdam via a Pirate radio station. The crime looked perfect until we discover that the daughter of the police chief investigating the diamond theft is a big Small faces fan... Very much of its time the film has wonderful nostalgia value both for its plot drama and some vintage music.

  • No Kidding [DVD]No Kidding | DVD | (21/03/2011) from £N/A   |  Saving you £N/A (N/A%)   |  RRP £15.99

Also known as Beware of Children No Kidding is yet another comic success from the Carry On stable. The premise involves a young couple David and Catherine Robinson (Leslie Phillips and a young Geraldine McEwan) who have to turn their large country house into a money-making proposition. Their solution is to invite the kids of the rich and famous to spend a summer enjoying all the loving care and attention they miss at home. After the youngsters arrive David quickly realizes what the offensive little punks need is some real discipline and so the summer begins. An amiable British farce that has a semblance of the St. Trinian's series No Kidding is surprisingly sophisticated fare that also scores a number of interesting points about greed privilege and class.

  • Space: 1999 - Series 2 Complete [1975]Space: 1999 - Series 2 Complete | DVD | (12/11/2001) from £N/A   |  Saving you £N/A (N/A%)   |  RRP £79.99

Many fans don't rate the second series of Space: 1999 as highly as the first. Responding to audience feedback, as well as the separation of producers Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, the programme makers drafted in new producer Fred Freiberger, the man responsible for the third and weakest season of the original Star Trek. Under his guidance the storylines drifted away from the hard sci-fi of the first season in favour of more action and a faster pace. The theme music, sets and costumes all changed, as did some key personnel. Out went professorial (and very dull) Barry Morse, in came dashing Tony Anholt as security officer Tony Verdeschi, while the glamour quotient was upped considerably by Catherine Schell as the shape-shifting Maya (a much-needed change, since the frosty Barbara Bain had reduced the show's sex appeal to nil in Series 1). Series 2 also introduced lots and lots more aliens kitted out in badly fitting costumes and dodgy glam-rock era makeup. Responding to yet more feedback from American TV executives the protagonists now had to encounter more highly unconvincing monsters than even Dr Who ever dared imagine: "The Beta Cloud", for example, is a classic rampaging-bloke-in-a-suit scenario. That said, this second season has more emphasis on characters other than the headline stars, as various stranded Alphans are allowed to come to the fore instead of just blankly following Commander Koenig's orders. It's all good fun in a silly, nostalgic sort of way, and fans of the more vintage Season 1 will find it hard to resist this second season as well.On the DVD: There aren't many extras here, although sundry interviews with principal cast and crew are scattered across the six discs in this complete box set. There's also a commentary on some episodes with special effects man Brian Johnson, a couple of deleted scenes, production stills and some text features. Each disc has a small booklet that gives some useful background information on the episodes. The remastered 4:3 ratio picture and mono sound are fine. --Mark Walker

Titles Comprise:Impact: Jack Moir (Conrad Phillips of William Tell fame), a newspaper reporter, is framed by 'The Duke' (George Pastell), a Soho racketeer against whom he has written a series of articles. Moir serves a two year sentence and then, with the help of his cell-mate, Charlie (John Rees), he lures 'The Duke' and his gang into Charlie's warehouse... A very good Butchers B feature that Conrad Phillips also co-wrote. Its also nice to see that Mike Pratt of Randall and Hopkirk is the detective in charge of the case. The film has good quality picture and sound following extensive restoration.Serena: Scotland Yard Inspector Gregory (Patrick Holt) strives to solve the mystery of an artist's wife found shot dead at an isolated Surrey cottage. The victim's husband, suave Howard Rogers (Emrys Jones), becomes the chief suspect. The mystery takes a complex turn when Rogers goes to identify her, but due to the gunshot wound her face is unrecognisable. However, when he inspects her body for an acknowledged birthmark he realises the body is not that of his wife... This 1962 Butchers production demonstrates again how Butchers were able to put together a good British B movie with a modest budget. The cast is the reliable Patrick Holt, Emrys Jones and Honor Blackman already enjoying success in The Avengers and two years later was Pussy Galore in Goldfinger.Shot on location and at Shepperton Studios its a story of death and deception nicely directed by Peter Maxwell with some 'newsy' type pan and zooms. The Director of Photography was Stephen Dade who created some good stark atmospheres he went on in 1964 to be D.O.P. on Zulu. Serena is a good British b flick with picture and sound of good quality.
