Clifton Webb, Barbara Stanwyck and Robert Wagner star in this gripping re-enactment of the tragic 1912 sinking of the Titanic in which over 1,500 people lost their lives. Supposedly an unsinkable ship, the huge British luxury liner met with disaster on its maiden voyage when its captain ignored numerous warnings of impending danger. Though based on facts culled from eyewitnesses, fictional characters depict the men and women, many of them international celebrities, who courageously faced this unexpected tragedy in the icy, bleak waters of the North Atlantic. This tremendously moving and extraordinary film continues to captivate audiences around the world.

Ranked 34 on the American Film Institute's list of the 100 Greatest American Films, To Kill a Mockingbird is quite simply one of the finest family-oriented dramas ever made. A beautiful and deeply affecting adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Harper Lee, the film retains a timeless quality that transcends its historically dated subject matter (racism in the Depression-era South) and remains powerfully resonant in present-day America with its advocacy of tolerance, justice, integrity and loving, responsible parenthood. It's tempting to call this an important "message" movie that should be required viewing for children and adults alike, but this riveting courtroom drama is anything but stodgy or pedantic. As Atticus Finch, the small-town Alabama lawyer and widower father of two, Gregory Peck gives one of his finest performances with his impassioned defence of a black man (Brock Peters) wrongfully accused of the rape and assault of a young white woman. While his children, Scout (Mary Badham) and Jem (Philip Alford), learn the realities of racial prejudice and irrational hatred, they also learn to overcome their fear of the unknown as personified by their mysterious, mostly unseen neighbour Boo Radley (Robert Duvall, in his brilliant, almost completely nonverbal screen debut). What emerges from this evocative, exquisitely filmed drama is a pure distillation of the themes of Harper Lee's enduring novel, a showcase for some of the finest American acting ever assembled in one film, and a rare quality of humanitarian artistry (including Horton Foote's splendid screenplay and Elmer Bernstein's outstanding score) that seems all but lost in the chaotic morass of modern cinema. --Jeff Shannon

British film and fashion icon Twiggy gives a breezy performance as Cockney flower-seller Eliza Doolittle, with Robert Powell co-starring as Professor Higgins in this special production of George Bernard Shaw's classic play, which formed the basis for the hit musical and film My Fair Lady. Co-starring noted character players Ronald Fraser, Arthur English and Mona Washbourne, this memorable adaptation of Pygmalion was first screened in 1981 as part of Yorkshire Television's Celebrity Playhouse anthology. Eliza Doolittle is the common girl who wants to be a lady. Henry Higgins, Professor of Phonetics, is the teacher who swears that, given six months, he can pass her off as a duchess. Those six months are, for Eliza, terrifying, turbulent, occasionally tender; for Higgins, they are either exciting or boring, depending on his mood. Following the 1942 Bataan Death March thousands of U.S. and Filipino soldiers were imprisoned by the Japanese in a POW camp in Cabantauan in the Philippines. Brutalized starved and tortured the prisoners languished in the camp for nearly three years. But in January 1945 an American battalion with the help of Filipino guerrillas planned a daring mission - some called it suicide - to rescue the five hundred U.S. soldiers still alive there. This film tells that story in glorious detail. The story is based on two books The Great Raid: Rescuing The Doomed Ghosts Of Bataan And Corregidor by William B. Breuer and Ghost Soldiiers: The Epic Account Of World War II's Greatest Rescue Mission by Hampton Sides. In addition several men involved in the raid served as consultants on the project. The result is a thrilling agonizing and unforgettable war movie like they used to make in the 1940s and 1950s a celebration of the human spirit. The Great Raid stars Benjamin Bratt as Lt. Colonel Mucci an offbeat military man who puts his faith in young Captain Prince (James Franco) to lead the dangerous mission. Among the men imprisoned in the camp are Joseph Fiennes as the ailing Major Gibson and Marton Csokas as Captain Redding who is always trying to escape. Connie Nielsen adds romantic tension as a war widow smuggling much-needed medicine into the camp.
