Mallorca 1936 and the Spanish civil war brings violence and death to local villages and communities. The bitter fighting and recriminations do not only affect adults but also introduces revenge and killing to the local children. Ramallo Tur and Francisca witness a brutal killing and their lives are changed forever. Ten years later and Francesca is a nun working in an all male tuberculosis sanatorium where Tur is an inmate. Ramallo is soon to join them and the horrors of the past soon come back to haunt them as those around them succumb to their illness and die.
