The Royal Air Force has a long and distinguished history of display teams stretching back over 80 years to the first Hendon Pageants. This unique DVD traces the history of the post-war RAF jet display teams from the first Vampire formations to the Red Arrows of today. A rarely seen colour film from 1959 'Card Five' captures the Black Arrows aerobatic team in all their glory. It features extensive use of in-cockpit cameras spectacular ground to air material of Black Arrows' Hunters performing some of their most famous routines (including looping 22 Hunters at Farnborough) and goes behind the scenes with the team. After a brief look at 94 Squadron Blue Diamond Hunters and 56 Squadron Firebirds flying Lightnings there is the chance to enjoy superb footage of the Red Pelicans in the early 1960s - again with stunning in-cockpit and air-to-air filming. Squadron Leader Henry Prince recalls the glory days of the Yellowjacks accompanied by rare cockpit cam material from the team and also provides the link to the formation of the Red Arrows in the mid 1960s. Featured here in full the film 'A Team of Seven' provides an unrivalled insight into the first year of the team both in the air and behind the scenes. The DVD then traces the history of the team through its switch to nine aircraft and conversion from the Gnat to the Hawk with glorious air-to air and ground-to air filming of the team in action.
