Funny and sexy, the film is full of memorable scenes often referred to in other films, such as the "Wall of Jericho" (a mere bedcover hung on a clothesline down the middle of the room), and Colbert's famous flash of thigh to stop a speeding car in its tracks.   The action comes thick and fast in Spider-Man--The Ultimate Villain Showdown as the web-slinging hero faces a host of fearsome foes, not least of which is his own torturous self-doubt. Kingpin, Dr Octopus and the Green Goblin all put in spirited performances in these animated tales from the 1990s, while a flashback to Spider-Man's origins ties the action together neatly. The writing is somewhat heavy-handed in places and the animation cranky, but the four featured episodes are pacy, the villains suitably evil and a hint of darkness lends a pleasing frisson to the drama. On the DVD: there's limited bonus material on the DVD but what's there is generally worthwhile and entertaining. In addition to an extra episode, "Return of the Green Goblin", a "Rogues Dossier" gives an interactive guide to Spider-Man's foes with statistics, trivia and video interviews with our hero's creator Stan Lee. Lee crops up again in the highlight of the bonus material, "Stan Lee's Soapbox", an engaging 20-minute insight into all things Spidey from a man who obviously loves his job. --Helen Baker

George Hudson (Bernard Lee M in 11 James Bond Films) is a businessman taking an extended cruise who finds himself with a seductive blackmailer. A wonderful piece of nostalgia with strong performances by all and terrific location footage of 60's London.

Before he knows what's hit him, he's involved romantically both with the defendant and with her scattered lawyer (Winger). Redford is as good as he can be, given the circumstances but this is a film that doesn't know where it's going. Originally intended as a serious film about the legal wrangling over the estate of the late Mark Rothko, this film quickly degenerated when the script was turned over to Jim Cash and Jack Epps Jr, whose sparkling oeuvre includes Turner and Hooch. --Marshall Fine, Amazon.com

After a tour of duty in the No-Man's-Land of World War 1 a witless young Belgian (Langdon) comes to America and seeks out the dedicated pen pal (Priscilla Bonner) whose letters lifted his spirits during the heat of battle. But to Paul the land of opportunity turns out to be a world of confusion as his quest for Mary Brown leads him from mishap to comic disaster. Tramp Tramp Tramp (1926): In an effort to save the family business a shoemaker's son (Langdon) enters a cross-country foot race with hopes of walking away with the $25.000 prize. During the course of his westward hike Harry woos the corporate boss's daughter from the edge of a cliff (in a scene that rivals Harold Lloyd clock face escapade in Safety first) Before the finish line can be reached Harry is caught in a violent tornado hat devastates an entire town - a sequence of spectacular comedy and destruction that no doubt inspired the hurricane finale of Buster Keaton's Steamboat Bill Jr.
