With a story that's too flimsy to support its running time, this road-mo vie comedy has plenty of problems, but at its best it's a surprisingly inspired vehicle for the clever teaming of Tim Robbins and Martin Lawrence. Robbins plays an addled advertising executive who comes home early one day and discovers his wife in bed with his boss. To make matters worse, he's later carjacked by a struggling, unemployed family-man-turned-petty-thief (Lawrence), and that's when he loses his cool completely. He takes the carjacker hostage and recruits him on a road-trip scheme of revenge against his wife and boss. Plotting to break into his boss' high-security vault, Robbins gets a criminal assist from Lawrence, but they're also on the run from another pair of would-be thieves who trail them to the vault's location. The routine plot of Nothing To Lose is occasionally limp and sluggish, but writer-director Steve Oedekerk (who makes a wacky cameo appearance as a security guard) mines comedy gold during several scenes that detour from the plot for the sake of sheer lunacy. Robbins and Lawrence have great comedic chemistry (if you can tolerate Lawrence's constant profanity), and although the movie ends on a false note with some unlikely turns of fate, it's definitely good for more than a few solid laughs. --Jeff Shannon, Amazon.com

Season 1 Based on Diana Gabaldon's best-selling book series and executive produced by Ronald D. Moore, OUTLANDER spans the genres of romance, science fiction, history and adventure as it follows Claire Randall, a married World War II combat nurse who mistakenly falls back in time to 1743. Forced by circumstance to marry Jamie Fraser, an outlawed Highlander, she finds herself falling in love and torn by her loyalties to two men in vastly different times. Claire must reconcile her modern mindset with this 18th-Century world amidst threats from ruthless redcoats, volatile clan politics and a brutal witch trial and ultimately discovers that there is a fate worse than death as she struggles to save Jamie's heart, as well as his soul. Season 2 Claire and Jamie arrive in France, hell-bent on infiltrating the Jacobite rebellion led by Prince Charles Stuart and stopping the battle of Culloden. With the help of Jamie's cousin, they are thrown into the lavish world of French society, where intrigue and parties are abundant but political gain proves far less fruitful. Altering the course of history presents challenges that begin to weigh on the very fabric of their relationship but, armed with the knowledge of what lies ahead, Claire and Jamie must race to prevent a doomed Highland uprising and the extinction of Scottish life as they know it. Season 3 The third season of OUTLANDER picks up right after Claire travels through the stones to return to her life in 1948. Now pregnant, she struggles with the fallout of her sudden reappearance and its effect on her marriage to her first husband, Frank. Meanwhile, in the 18th century, Jamie suffers from the aftermath of his doomed last stand at the historic battle of Culloden, as well as the loss of Claire. As the years pass, Jamie and Claire attempt to make lives apart from one another, each haunted by the memory of their lost love. Separated by continents and centuries, Claire and Jamie must find their way back to each other. As always, adversity, mystery and adventure await them, and the question remains: when they find each other, will they be the same people who parted at the standing stones all those years ago? Season 4 Season Four of Outlander continues the story of Claire and Jamie Fraser as they try to make a home for themselves in colonial America. The Frasers settle in North Carolina at yet another turning point in history the cusp of the American Revolution where they must negotiate a tenuous loyalty to the current British ruling class, despite Claire's knowledge of the bloody rebellion to come. Along the way, the Frasers cross paths with notorious pirate and smuggler Stephen Bonnet in a fateful meeting that will come back to haunt the Fraser family. Meanwhile Brianna Randall and Roger Wakefield grow closer in the 20th Century but make a shocking discovery that makes them consider following in Claire's footsteps. Season 5 The fifth season of Outlander sees a continuation of Claire and Jamie's fight to protect those they love, as they navigate the trials and tribulations of life in colonial America. Establishing a home in the New World is by no means an easy task, particularly in the wild backcountry of North Carolina and perhaps most significantly during a period of dramatic political upheaval. The Frasers strive to flourish within a society which, as Claire knows all too well, is unwittingly marching towards Revolution, as members of the elite ruling classes struggle to stifle an alarming undercurrent of unrest, trigged by the Regulator Movement, and to maintain order in the Province. Against this backdrop, which soon heralds the birth of the new American nation, Claire and Jamie have built a home together at Fraser's Ridge. Jamie must now defend this home established on land granted to him by the Crown despite the fact that this new mantle of responsibility sees him pitted against his godfather, Murtagh Fitzgibbons, a leader of the Regulator Rebellion. Jamie is forced to hide the true nature of his relationship with Murtagh from Governor Tryon, who has ordered Jamie to put an end to the unrest sweeping North Carolina. Claire, in turn, seeks to put her own skills and medical expertise to use in keeping her family together and safe from harm. Coupled with her knowledge of the future, she decides that she must be daring and have the courage to take risks, whatever the consequences may be Meanwhile, Brianna and Roger MacKenzie struggle to find their respective places in this world: striving to chase away the shadow cast over their lives by Stephen Bonnet, which continues to loom over them, as they raise their son in this brave new world. For the Frasers and their family, home is more than simply a site in which they live, it is the place in which they are laying the foundations for the rest of their lives.

Anyone can make themselves unpopular - but it takes a past master like John Cleese to be really irritating. The secret he says is to let the other person believe it's all totally unintentional - and that's the first of many tricks of the trade he gives away in How To Irritate People. With the help of fellow Python cohorts Michael Palin and Graham Chapman Connie Booth from Fawlty Towers and Goodie Tim Brooke-Taylor Cleese demonstrates the uncanny ability to keep his victims just the right temperature under the collar...one degree below boiling point! Recorded live in front of a thoroughly irritated audience and including the famed 'Airline Pilot' sketch How To Irritate People is a lesser known classic of British comedy.

Although they made their name in the medium of radio, the legendary Goons also made brief forays into the world of television and, with Down Among the Z Men, film. It captures the team at a very early stage in their career, with Michael Bentine still in the fold, and with their unique, anarchic brand of humour still in its infancy. Sadly, the style and feel of the film does little to suit their comedy style. While radio offered an opportunity for their imaginations to run riot, here the four find themselves tied to a few stock characters, most of whom would make a more animated appearances later in their career. The plot--with its tale of eccentric professors and evil spies--sees a series of musical numbers and a variety performance crow barred into the proceedings. Those who wish to add to an already existing Goons collection may want to consider this, but anyone wondering what all the fuss is about should head straight for the many radio collections available and hear the sound of true genius at work. On The DVD: Down Among the Z Men offers little to recommend, with the DVD lacking in any extras whatsoever. Being taken from an original fifties print, the black and white picture is of reasonable quality yet cannot help but look extremely dated. At best it is the sort of curio that would pass time on a Sunday afternoon but it is hard to consider this a particularly essential DVD release. –-Phil Udell

Having led Derby County to the first league victory in their history Clough left in a cloud of controversy and after a brief spell at Brighton found himself in the Leeds United hotseat after Don Revie's departure for the England job. The Damned United based on David Peace's book of the same name follows the tempestuous 44 days that Clough managed Leeds United. • Meantime [1983]Meantime | DVD | (14/04/2003) from £N/A   |  Saving you £N/A (N/A%)   |  RRP £5.99

Meantime, made in 1983, was only Mike Leigh's second film to reach the big screen, though by now he was far from a novice director. Yet 10 years after his first movie, Bleak Moments (1971), he couldn't get funding for a single cinematic feature and was obliged to make films for television. Meantime, first shown on Channel 4, was given a limited theatrical release, heralding his eventual return to the cinema. The title is a double-edged pun. It suggests the waiting-around no-time-in-particular that the characters inhabit, but it's also Leigh's barbed comment on the mean-spirited politics of the Thatcher era, when millions of people were tossed on the scrapheap of unemployment. Leigh has sometimes been accused of caricaturing and being condescending to his characters, but Meantime is notable for wry compassion in its portrayal of a bunch of no-hopers stuck in their East End limbo. Not a lot happens. Mark (Phil Daniels) and his retarded brother Colin (Tim Roth) hang about the streets and pubs, banter with their skinhead mate Coxy (Gary Oldman), half-heartedly chat up local girls, bicker with their parents. Their aunt Barbara--who bettered herself and moved to the relative poshness of Chigwell--offers Colin a job helping her decorate, but he backs out of it. Nobody's going anywhere much. But the view's not totally forlorn. Leigh leaves us with a brief, unexpected moment of warmth and solidarity between the two brothers. On the DVD: It's paltry stuff. A so-called "trailer" proves to be a plug for other DVD releases in the same series. Otherwise it's just a scene menu, and English subtitles for the hard of hearing. The early 80s TV-quality images are badly shown up by the DVD's visual acuity. --Philip Kemp
