| RRP Produced by Emmy award winning producers Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Mark Herzog, The Eighties is the third series in the acclaimed documentary strand chronicling American society and popular culture in the later twentieth century. As the Cold War ended, the world learned of a mysterious virus that defied a cure and triggered a global pandemic. Wall Street brokers became the new rock stars but the economic boom led to a material excess and corruption. The personal computer signalled a technological revolution. The music world discovered hip-hop, MTV, Prince and U2, but lost John Lennon. Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere and Cheers brought new sophistication to televised storytelling. And throughout the decade, Ronald Reagan left his mark as few public figures do, enjoying unprecedented popularity but also enduring a scandal that nearly derailed his presidency. This epic series uses rare archival footage and interviews with renowned journalists, historians, musicians and television artists to paint a vivid and compelling portrait of a decade of lasting consequence. Raised on Television An explosion of new channels and the advent of the VCR transform our viewing habits. Video Killed the Radio Star The digital revolution hits the music world, and MTV is born. The Fight Against AIDS A mysterious illness develops into a pandemic with huge political and cultural consequences. The Reagan Revolution A look at Ronald Reagan's landmark legislative achievements and political setbacks. Greed Is Good Junk bonds, bailouts and Wall Street corruption set the tone for a decade of excess. Tear Down This Wall The appointment of Mikhail Gorbachev triggers an astounding chain of events. Technology Gets Personal The innovations and inventions of the Digital Revolution change life forever.
Beethoven's 2nd | DVD | (07/06/2010)
from £5.99
| Saving you £4.00 (66.78%)
| RRP Beethoven's 2nd, the 1993 sequel to the St Bernard hit, finds big, fluffy Beethoven now at home with gruff-but-lovable dad Charles Grodin, supermum Bonnie Hunt, and their three children. The story continues with Beethoven falling for a female St Bernard and having a litter, unbeknown to Grodin, while the new dog's owner (Debi Mazar) starts angling for benefits from this union. The larger dog pool certainly adds more cuteness and laughs to this follow-up, and Grodin and Hunt--consummate professionals--don't let sequel-itis lower their energy or their wonderfully idiosyncratic way with dialogue. Mazar brings her own edge to the proceedings but in the end, the film's accent is still very much on a feel-good experience for everyone. --Tom Keogh, Amazon.com DVD special features: Production notes Cast and Filmmakers' Biographies Theatrical Trailer Running time: 85 minutes approximately

| RRP Most of the original characters--plus a few new ones--return in Hunchback Of Notre Dame II. Esmeralda (Demi Moore) and Phoebus (Kevin Kline) now have a son named Zephyr (Haley Joel Osment), with whom Quasi (Tom Hulce) has become friends. When the circus comes to town, the hunchback becomes enchanted by magician's assistant, Madellaine (Jennifer Love Hewitt), but the vain Sarousch (Michael McKean) is also a thief with an eye for the cathedral's jewelled bell. He forces Madellaine to woo Quasi while he carries out the theft. Will he get away with it? Will Madellaine learn to see the inner Quasi? And will Quasi be able to trust again when he learns of her deception? Songs and humorous hijinks from the gargoyles, such as Jason Alexander's Hugo, illustrate the lesson that--as in the first feature--you can't judge a book by its cover. This sequel is squarely aimed at a younger audience than the original, ages 5-10 should be very entertained. --Kathleen C. Fennessy, Amazon.com

| RRP From the Arrow creative team of executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg and director David Nutter, The Flash is a fast-paced super hero drama that follows the high-speed adventures of the Fastest Man Alive. Written by Berlanti, Kreisberg and DC Entertainment's Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, the action drama follows Central City Police scientist Barry Allen, an everyday guy with the heart of a hero and the genuine desire to help others. Standing still emotionally since the day his mother was murdered (and his father unjustly jailed for the crime), Barry was taken in as a child by the investigating Detective West and raised in a cop's home alongside West's supersmart daughter (and Barry's dream girl) Iris. But when an unexpected and devastating accident at the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator facility strikes Barry, he finds himself suddenly charged with the incredible power to move at super speeds. While Barry has always been a hero in his soul, his newfound powers have finally given him the ability to act like one. With the help of the research team at S.T.A.R. Labs - including billionaire visionary Harrison Wells, biogenetics expert Caitlin Snow and the eternally upbeat Cisco Ramon - Barry begins testing the limits of his evolving powers and using them to stop crime, ensuring that no one suffers a similar tragedy to his own family history. Working with his adopted father Detective West; West's conceited partner Detective Eddie Thawne and Iris West, who's earning her degree in Criminal Psychology, Barry uses his superhuman abilities to help the people of Central City and stop the rogues' gallery of villains -- many of whom have also been altered by the particle accelerator explosion. Concealing his identity behind his incredible velocity, Barry can not only accomplish feats faster than human comprehension, but also taps into an energy that allows him to access moments out of time -- both past and future. With a winning personality and a smile on his face, Barry Allen - aka The Flash - is finally moving forward in life, very, very fast.
