  La Dolores is one of the best operatic works in Spanish lyrical history and one of the finest creations of composer Tom''s Bret''n. Premiered in 1895 it was considered the greatest operatic achievement in the history of Madrid's 'Teatro Real' and there has been no other triumph so highly applauded since its premier. It is amazing to contemplate how this opera has been allowed to vanish from the theatre and is not currently a work included in the international repertoire.
