  Anand a Punjabi boy comes to New Delhi to find a place to rent but is forced to pose as a Madrasi in order to rent a room in a Madrasi house. He then meets and falls in love with Janaki whose father is opposed to her seeing Anand when he discovers he is really a Punjabi boy. He forbids her to meet Anand again and decides to quickly arrange her marriage to a Madrasi. Janaki tries to commit suicide but her uncle stops her and soon they come up with a plan that is sure to change the biased ways of how people think.
