EVIL HAS NEVER BEEN SO SEDUCTIVE.It is often said that films about the Devil are cursed with bad luck, but Leslie Stevens' Incubus might be the most cursed of them all. Little does he suspect that the inhabitants of Nomen Tuum are demonic seductresses who entice interlopers and lead them to damnation, and one such succubus, Kia (Allyson Ames) has her sights on Marc. Holly Hunter plays a network news producer who, much to her chagrin, finds herself falling for pretty-boy anchorman William Hurt. He is all glamour without substance and represents a hated shift from hard news toward packaged "infotainment", which Hunter despises. Completing the triangle is Albert Brooks, who provides contrast as the gifted reporter with almost no presence on camera. He carries a torch for Hunter; she sees merely a friend. Written and directed by James L. Brooks, Broadcast News shows remarkable insight into the people who make television. On the surface the film is about that love triangle. If you look a little deeper, however, you will see that this behind-the-scenes comedy is a very revealing look at obsessive behaviour and the heightened emotions that accompany adrenaline addiction. It is for good reason this was nominated for seven Academy Awards (though it did not win any). There are scenes in this movie you cannot shake, such as Hunter's scheduled mini-breakdowns, or Brooks' furious "flop sweat" during his tryout as a national anchor. Watch for an uncredited Jack Nicholson as a senior newscaster. --Rochelle O'Gorman

Quentin Tarantino recently remarked that he would like to try out some of his projects as television shows because the medium afforded the opportunity to develop characters and stories over a longer period. After all Kill Bill was slated to be a 3 hour film rather than the two volumes it ended up being. Having tried his hand at 'ER' Tarantino jumped at the chance to direct some episodes of CSI a series that has captured the imagination of viewers across the world with its gritty p

This remake of Neil Simon's l970 comedy finds Goldie Hawn and Steve Martin as Ohio yokels cast adrift in Mayor Rudy Giuliani's sanitised New York City. With their son recently departed for Britain, the empty-nesters travel to the Big Apple for a job interview and are beset with all kinds of bad luck, starting with their flight being rerouted to Boston. Things only go downhill from there, of course, as they're mugged by an Andrew Lloyd Webber imposter, the high-tech multilingual navigation system on their rented Cadillac goes haywire, and their hotel reservations fall through. Although marred by some out-of-place slapstick and mawkish romance scenes, this film's not without its funny moments. The couple stumbles into a sexual-addiction encounter group and has to try to back out gracefully (not succeeding very well, of course). John Cleese is howlingly funny as he reprises his Fawlty Towers role of a cross-dressing hotelier, and Martin has a great drug-delirium scene, in which he's slipped a hit of LSD in jail (thinking it's aspirin). Just try not to think in terms of comparisons to Neil Simon's original and this remake works fairly well. --Jerry Renshaw, Amazon.com

The second series in Granada's 'Mr Rose' cult crime/suspense trilogy, It's Dark Outside saw William Mervyn reprising the role of the charismatic Inspector Rose, first introduced in The Odd Man just six months previously and re-emerging in slightly mellowed form in the final series, Mr Rose. It's Dark Outside follows the sharp-witted and memorably prickly detective as he tackles a fresh batch of cases. Assisting Rose in Series One is the more amenable DS Swift (played by a youthful Keith Barron), with John Carson as solicitor Anthony Brand and June Tobin as Brand's journalist wife, Alice; Series Two sees Rose verbally sparring with newcomer DS Hunter, played by cult favorite actor Anthony Ainley. Although two series of It's Dark Outside were made, the second was thought completely lost until research for this set unearthed two episodes which still existed on film. Newly transferred, these episodes have been included here alongside all those from Series One.
