When Haruka asks his classmate Akiho to go out with him, he's hoping that she'll say ˜yes'. What he isn't expecting is for her to agree, then approach their relationship with an emotionally detached attitude as if she was writing a research paper with sex as the topic! It's all about maximizing compatibility, Akiho says, but when preparation for a first date requires Haruka to divulge a comprehensive list of his sexual fetishes in advance for planning purposes, perhaps there's something to be said for getting to know each other the old-fashioned way! And if Akiho's clinical approach isn't awkward enough, things get really weird when it's time to meet the parents and Haruka learns where Akiho's odd demeanour comes from! It's the romantic comedy where T.M.I. and A-Type personalities collide.

Alcia is a world governed by Count : numbers engraved on a person's body, representing any number related to their life. These Counts determine a person's social status and power in Alcia. If a Count reaches zero, the person is sent to the Abyss, a place rumored to be worse than death.

Tekkonkinkreet is a landmark in the increasing cross-pollination between Japanese and American animation: Based on a manga by Taiyo Matsumoto, the film was made in Japan at Studio 4C, but directed by American Michael Arrias. The story unfolds in Treasure Town, a scabrous metropolitan slum so gritty it makes the viewer want to clean under his fingernails. Orphans White and Black share an existence at the fringes of an already marginalized subculture. White seems naive, if not learning disabled: at 11, he can't tie his shoes or dress himself. But he has an uncanny sixth sense about what's happening in Treasure Town. Older, streetwise Black looks after White and receives the emotional support he needs in return: they're two halves of a damaged whole. The arrival of a murderous yakuza boss who wants to demolish Treasure Town and build an amusement park draws Black and White into an escalating spiral of physical and emotional violence. Although the ending of Tekkonkinkreet feels needlessly obscure, it's a striking and often powerful film from a first-time director. Cult director Teruo Ishii (Shogun s Joy of Torture, Blind Woman s Curse) presents a nightmarish, hallucinogenic tale drawn from the fevered imagination of Japan s celebrated pioneer ofero-guro ( erotic grotesque ) literature, Edogawa Rampo. Medical student Hirosuke Hitomi slips out of the asylum in which he has been wrongfully confined and stealthily assumes the identity of a recently deceased nobleman with whom he bears an uncanny resemblance. Hirosuke eases his way into the nobleman s household and his dead double s marital bed. But as long-repressed memories begin to bubble to the surface, he soon finds himself drawn to a remote isle where he is confronted by a mad scientist and his malformed men, and discovers the key that will unlock some long-suppressed mysteries of his own. A dark labyrinth of the monstrous and perverse that fuses mystery and horror while incorporating motifs from a myriad of Rampo's tales, Horrors of Malformed Men boasts astonishing carnivalesque art design and haunting performances. Withdrawn from cinemas by its own studio after its original scandalous release nearly fifty years ago, the film is among the very best screen interpretations of the author s macabre brand of horror-fantasy fiction, and a unique oddity of Japanese cult cinema. The Realm of the Senses: Ai No Corrida is perhaps the most notorious erotic film in cinema history having been banned at the 1976 New York Film Festival and denied a video release in the UK until 2000. Based on fact the film depicts the relationship between an ex- prostitute who becomes a domestic servant and her master who have a mutual sexual appetite which is almost boundless. The climax to the film is legendary and has become one of the most talked about scenes in movie history. Empire of Passion: Oshima deservedly won the Best Director award at the 1978 Cannes Film Festival for this thrilling ghost story set in late 19th century rural Japan. A housewife embarks on a torrid affair with a younger man and they decide that they must kill her elderly husband in order to protect their sordid secret. Having committed the murder they dispose of the body and explain his absence to the village by claiming he had departed for Tokyo to find work but three years after his death the ghost of the dead husband starts appearing in the village threatening to expose the illicit passion
