Dog Pound is a chilling, hard hitting prison action drama set in an American young offenders' institution. The Enola Vale Correctional Centre in Montana is for juvenile delinquents ostracised from the normal teenage penal system. The long-standing inmates have developed their own cruel and vicious social structure essentially founded on fear and dominance. Coupling this with the equally harsh brutal treatment dished out by the prison guards, the institution is a grim, forbidding place for any teenage lad to find himself in even taking into account their recent personal... background where they were inevitably immersed in corruption and serious criminal behaviour.
The film follows three recent arrivals, Butch, Davis and Angel who are thrown into a culture of sadism and intimidation. They decide to stick together for protection but there is certain danger lurking round every corner. With graphic scenes of rape, riot and suicide, life within the walls of this hell on earth is realistically portrayed. The English-language debut of French director Kim Chapiron, this gritty drama is set in an American young offenders' institution. A trio of juvenile delinquents - 16-year-old drug dealer Davis (Shane Kippel), 15-year-old car thief Angel (Mateo Morales) and 17-year-old Butch (Adam Butcher), who is convicted of assault - are sent to the Enola Vale Correctional Centre in Montana, run by case-hardened warden Goodyear (Lawrence Bayne). There, the three find themselves trapped in a flawed and corrupt judicial system in which bullying, violence, drug-taking and abuse of privileges are commonplace.

Dog Pound is a gritty prison drama about three young offenders Butch, Davis and Angel who all arrive at a tough juvenile centre together. The three have never met before but as soon as they arrive they realise that they must stick together and watch each other’s backs if they want to survive their sentences. But this won’t be easy as the prison is basically run by a large amount of the young offenders that the prison staff are too afraid to stand up to. The three also come to realise that it’s not just the other prisoners they have to worry about when they soon become the victims of degrading beatings at the hands of the guards.
