Drew Barrymore and Dougray Scott star in Andy Tennant's adaptation of the famous fairy tale. In Renaissance Italy, 18-year-old Danielle (Barrymore) has been reduced to the level of a servant by her wicked stepmother, Baroness Rodmilla (Anjelica Huston), after the tragic death of her loving father. When Danielle first meets Prince Henry (Scott), their lives couldn't seem further apart, but on their second encounter, with Danielle dressed as a noblewoman, romance blossoms as they both feel an undeniable connection. How will Prince Henry react when his father, King Francis (Timothy West), reveals his plan for him to marry the Princess of Spain?
