British thriller which follows a man who must find his aunt's murderer, whilst recovering from drug addiction. After publishing a book a year after he commenced his journey to recovery, Tim (David Hemmings) becomes acquainted with his aunt, an altruist who is keen to help his previous associates during his time as an addict. Mysteriously, shortly after Tim begins to bond with his aunt, she is killed. When the murder inquiry is not moving along swiftly, Tim becomes suspicious and begins to question his aunt's contacts for clues. Discovering a chilling laugh recorded on Tim's home tape recorder and with strangers warning him not to proceed and to leave the investigation to the police, he begins to realise the enigmatic complexity of this case.
