The first series of the drama starring Chloë Sevigny as a pre-op transexual contract killer who suddenly finds herself caring for a family. Mia (Sevigny) is on the waiting list to become a fully fledged woman when she receives a call from her ex, who tells her that she is dying of terminal cancer and would like Mia to look after their eleven-year-old son. Mia duly travels to meet her ex-partner's family, which includes a number of other children, and gradually finds herself drawn into a parental role. As she settles into country life, Mia develops a close relationship with landscape gardener Ben (Jonas Armstrong), who doesn't realise that she is a transexual, and makes enemies with a local farmer, John (Vincent Regan), but how long will it be before her past as a killer returns to haunt her?
