Law Abiding Citizen (2009) is a heart-racing thriller directed by F. Gary Grey and starring Jamie Foxx, Gerard Butler and Colm Meaney. Clyde Shelton (Butler) is a decent family man who takes the law into his own hands when his wife and daughter are horrifically murdered during a raid of his home. The killers are caught, but in exchange for testifying against his accomplice, one of the men is given a lenient sentence. Ten years later, the man is free and when he's found dead, Shelton holds up his hands and admits to being responsible. But that's not all, Shelton... also leaves a warning - the flawed justice system needs to change, or the people involved in the trial will be killed!
Although he's in prison, Shelton is true to his word and organises a series of horrific assassinations that can't be foreseen or prevented. Nick (Fox), a hot shot prosecutor tries to stop his reign of terror and outsmart the resourceful sociopath, but it's soon his own safety he needs to worry about, as he too was involved in the trial - one wrong move could mean death!
