A chilling fairytale; dark, mysterious and hypnotically beautiful. 12 year old Oskar is an outsider, struggling to fit in at school and left alone to fend for himself at home while his mother works nights. One evening he meets the mysterious Eli. As a sweet romance blossoms between them, Oskar learns to overcome his tormentors and discovers Eli's dark secret and her connection to the gruesome events occuring across town. Together they must help Eli be gone and live, or stay and die. Swedish filmmaker Tomas Alfredson weaves friendship, rejection and loyalty into a disturbing... and darkly atmospheric tender tableau of adolescence. What a beautiful film!! An enthralling story that somehow manges to draw you in to the on screen love story and yet still contain some lovely scenes of gore!! haha. The acting is spot on and the setting is absolutely perfect. If this film had been made in England or the like it would not have the same impact; foreign films seem to hit the nail right on the head with these style of movies.
The Blu Ray quality is mind blowing with perfect sound and a stunning picture quality - the scenes set against the white snow backdrop and rich red blood are simply beautiful to behold!
This is a film i will be watching over and over again for years to come. A truly touching film full of emotion that most people can relate to in one way or another. BUY BUY BUY!!!
