French drama starring Brigitte Bardot as Manina, the beautiful 18-year-old lighthouse keeper's daughter, in a story that follows a 25-year-old student from Paris named Gérard Morère (Jean-François Calvé) who falls head over heels for her. Gérard sits in on a lecture about a mysterious treasure which was lost at sea following the Pelopennesian War, and immediately recognises its description from a memory of five years ago when he was diving near the coast of the island of Levezzi. He then convinces his acquaintances and a local innkeeper to fund his adventure to Tangiers, where he then meets a cigarette smuggler named Éric (Howard Vernon) who can help him get to Levezzi. When the search for the treasure is unfruitful for some time, Éric begins to think he has been deceived and that the treasure does not exist, but Gérard insists that patience will come good for both of them. Arriving at the island, it is here he meets the alluring Manina, and the two enter a charming romance with one another. Can Gérard balance his passion for hunting the treasure with his desire for Manina?
