Anthology of horror tales directed by Freddie Francis. Set in the asylum of Dr. Tremayne (Donald Pleasence), the film tells four short, horror-filled stories that explain why some of his patients went mad. In 'Mr. Tiger' Paul (Russell Lewis), a young, troubled boy befriends an imaginary tiger. In 'Penny Farthing' an antique shop owner is transported back in time by a bicycle in his store. In 'Mel' Brian Thompson (Michael Jayston) brings home a dead tree, names it Mel and displays it as art, much to the dismay of his wife Bella (Joan Collins). In 'Luau' literary agent Auriol Pageant (Kim Novak) arranges a luau to court a new client, but things don't quite go according to plan...
