Kumail Nanjiani co-writes and stars in this romantic comedy directed by Michael Showalter. The film follows Kumail (Nanjiani), a young Pakistani man attempting to break into comedy in the US while also trying to convince his parents not to set him up with an arranged marriage. Things get more complicated for Kumail when he meets American Emily (Zoe Kazan) at a comedy club and the pair begin dating. However, with Kumail unable to admit to his parents that he's in a relationship with a white woman, he finds himself having to sort his priorities out when Emily is admitted to hospital with a serious illness.
