Unmarried, just turned 40, and with her body clock ticking away, Kassie (Jennifer Aniston) decides the only way to have a baby is to go it alone. Despite protestations form her best friend, Wally (Jason Bateman), who is secretly in love with her, she uses artificial insemination to conceive using Roland (Patrick Wilson) as donor.
Unbeknownst to her, however, in a drunken moment at Kassies rather bizarre fertility party, Wally replaces the donated sample with one of his own. The drunken fog wipes all memory of what he did that night and Kassie moves away... from New York to Minnesota to raise her son, Sebastian.
Seven years later she moves back and tries to get Roland to have some involvement with his son. Wally, in the meantime, begins to notice some strikingly obvious similarities between Sebastian and himself. He attempts to piece together the confused scanty fragments of his memory of that drunken night and the realisation slowly begins to dawn on him. Is Sebastian really his son?
"The Switch", loosely based on a short story written by Jeffrey Eugenides, is a very sweet and amusing Romantic Comedy. Jennifer Aniston, once again showing how suited she is to this genre, gives a really charming performance Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman star in this rom com of unexpected proportions! Desperate to have a baby before it is too late, 40-year-old singleton Kassie (Aniston) chooses the artificial insemination route and employs the services of suave sperm donor Roland (Patrick Wilson) despite the protestations of her best friend Wally (Jason Bateman). Wally, who has long been secretly in love with Kassie, gets drunk at Kassie's 'insemination party' and ends up accidentally spilling Roland's sample. In a panic, he replaces it with his own. Seven years later, when Kassie returns to New York with her son Sebastian (Thomas Robinson), Wally must finally face up to the consequences of his actions.
