A bit like marmite, you either love him or hate him, but one thing's for sure, George W. Bush, the former President of the United States of America, is one entertaining and extremely controversial character! W. is directed by Oliver Stone, well known for his other Presidential films (JFK and Nixon), and Stars John Brolin (Bush), Elizabeth Banks, James Cromwell and Ellen Burstyn. The story doesn't simply show Bush as a caricature, but centres on his rise from election and through his first term as president. It explores his relationship with his father and the... burden of the Bush Legacy, which eventually led him to the Whitehouse. The film splits into neat sections, each offering a different element of Bush. If you expect to see the ex-president being ripped apart in this film, you'll be disappointed. Bush is portrayed as determined but misguided by others. Instead of being portrayed as a man responsible for his own downfall, the film takes on a sad and sympathetic slant and shows that it was just to big of a task for this US president. Whether you love him or hate him, there is no question that George W. Bush is one of the most controversial public figures in recent memory. Oliver Stone, in his patented style, brings the life and times of the President to the big screen. [show more]
