Tom DiCillo directs this feature-length documentary about the late 1960s/early 1970s rock band The Doors, based primarily around footage shot between 1966 and 1971 by Paul Ferrara, a film student friend of the band's lead singer Jim Morrison. Also included is Morrison's own little-seen experimental short film 'HWY: An American Pastoral', shot in 1969. Johnny Depp narrates.
