Filmed at London's legendary Hammersmith Odeon (now Apollo) in the summer of 1978, this concert film captures The Boomtown Rats just as they were breaking into the big league.Their second album A Tonic For The Troops had been released to great acclaim and considerable success but Rat Trap, the first New Wave No.1, although played at this concert, had yet to be released as a single. The show was filmed on one of two sell-out nights at the Odeon and is a brilliant snapshot of the Rats at this point in their career, the band are tight and energetic, the songs are strong and Geldof is revelling in his new found stardom as New Wave's ultimate frontman. To quote a fan interviewed at the start of the film it's just generally brilliant music .1) Blind Date2) (I Never Loved) Eva Braun3) Me And Howard Hughes4) She's Gonna Do You In5) Rat Trap 6) Kicks7) Joey's On The Street Again8) She's So Modern9) Don't Believe What You Read10) Like Clockwork11) The Rat12) Looking After No.1
John Del Carlo’s impressive singing and acting chops as the Don are given every boost by Otto Schenk’s hilarious staging and James Levine’s witty conducting. Leading this opera for the first time at the Met, the renowned maestro demonstrates that his gifts suit Donizetti as perfectly as Wagner. Mariusz Kwiecien and Matthew Polenzani scintillate as Malatesta and Ernesto. When Norina slaps Pasquale, the old man sees how deluded he has been to believe that the young beauty loves him. The San Francisco Chronicle paid homage to this turning point thus: “Netrebko captures the moment that gives the opera a heart it otherwise would lack”.

The title role in Norma is one of opera's supreme dramatic and vocal challenges. In January 2006 Edita Gruberova, today's bel canto prima donna assoluta, performed this role on stage for the first time in a new production that left critics and audiences searching for new superlatives.
Filmed at the Vatican on 16 April 2007 this DVD reproduces the concert that formed the centrepiece of Pope Benedict XVI's 80th-birthday celebrations. Also included are the welcoming speeches and the Pope's words of thanks in German and Italian The concert programme in part selected by the music-loving Pontiff himself brings together two of classical music's brightest young stars for their first joint appearance - American violinist Hilary Hahn and Venezuelan firebrand conductor Gustavo Dudamel. Mozart's sparkling G major Violin Concerto and Dvo''''k's stirring 'New World' Symphony are two of classical music's best-loved masterpieces neither of which had been recorded before by these artists.
The Rolling Stones 1978 tour of the USA in support of that year’s 'Some Girls' album is considered by fans to be one of their very best. The tour followed immediately on the release of the 'Some Girls' album and by the time the band arrived in Texas in mid-July the album had hit the No.1 spot on the US charts. The tour took a “back to basics” approach, with the band and their music very much at the forefront and little or no elaborate staging. Filmed at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas, on 18 July 1978, this concert is typical of the tour with The Rolling Stones delivering a raw, energetic performance in front of a crowd who clearly love the show. Many of the tracks from 'Some Girls' are included in the live set with a sprinkling of Stones classics from earlier albums. Originally shot on 16mm film, the footage has been carefully restored and the sound remixed and remastered by Bob Clearmountain from the original multitrack tapes. This is undeniably The Rolling Stones at the peak of their form. Tracklisting:1. Let It Rock / 2. All Down The Line / 3. Honky Tonk Women / 4. Star Star / 5. When The Whip Comes Down / 6. In this performance of Handel's best-loved oratorio by the Academy of Ancient Music conductor Christopher Hogwood has returned to the original performance traditions. In Handel's day the Messiah was performed by fewer than forty instrumentalists and a chorus less than thirty strong of boy trebles and men. In this recording the choruses are sung by boy trebles and male altos tenors and basses and members of the Choir of Westminster Abbey. The soloists improvise embellishments in
