The Queen of Ireland is the incredible story of Pandora Panti' Bliss and her creator, Rory O'Neill. Part glamorous aunt, part Jessica Rabbit, Panti is an accidental activist and, in her own words, a court jester, whose role is to say the unsayable'. Directed by Conor Horgan (One Hundred Mornings, Deep End Dance) and produced by Blinder Films (The Pervert's Guide to Ideology, One Hundred Mornings), the film follows Rory and Panti on their journey from a small town in Mayo to national figureheads for equality, and all the way to global spokespersons for LGBT rights. Funny, powerful and timely, The Queen of Ireland is part personal documentary, part social history an entertaining and powerful noble call for that icon and iconoclast of 21st Century Ireland, Rory O'Neill (RTE Guide).
An unnamed apocalyptic event has left a handful of people struggling to survive in a remote village in rural Ireland. Jonathan and his wife Hannah are sharing a cottage with another couple, Mark and Katie. Along with their neighbour, Tim, they have one rifle and limited provisions, which are running out fast. When a group of thugs turn up to steal what little the group have, it's obvious that whoever has the ammunition will have the power. Tensions mount as they realise that they are going to have to find a way to survive in a world without power, money or communication.
