  Ralph Tanner is a compulsive liar he uses any means no matter how embarrassing to portray himself as a worldly 'been there seen it done it all' chap whereas in reality he is an inexperienced incompetent. Nevertheless his brash front is enough to impress the gullible timid Brian whom he meets in an airport awaiting the same flight to Spain where they hope to pursue amorous conquests.
