  The Bible Code is a 40-minute American TV documentary, originally titled Secrets of the Bible Code Revealed, re-edited for the UK with narration by British presenter Paul Ross. The title change links the programme closely with Michael Drosnin's bestseller and The Bible Code, and while Drosnin is featured, the film is based more closely on the books The Mysterious Bible Codes by Grant Jeffrey and Cosmic Codes by Chuck Missler. The theory that there are phrases prophesying future events mathematically encoded in the Hebrew text of The Torah (the first five books of the Old Testament) is centuries old; Sir Isaac Newton spent years investigating the possibility. However, it was the 1994 publication of a paper in the journal Statistical Science, consequently publicised by Drosnin, that revived modern interest. This short film can do no more than provide an introduction to a subject hotly debated by many leading mathematicians, statisticians, theologians and historians. The programme is in no doubt that God encoded secret messages in the Bible, and so oversimplifies the issue as to reduce it to the level of tabloid sensationalism. Anyone genuinely interested in the theory would be better served reading a serious book on what is an enormously involved subject. On the DVD: This is a standard 4:3 TV programme with average picture and sound which doesn't benefit from the digital format. The only extra is a handful of barely relevant text pages on the Enigma code. The listed "brief history of WWII" is not present. Given the subject so much more could have been done in providing background material, even to including a DVD-ROM computer programme to run code searches. As it is this is a missed opportunity to make a genuinely interactive experience. --Gary S Dalkin

  This programme details the opening phase of the Gallipoli conflict. It was an audacious scheme which had it succeeded would have enabled the allies to capture Constantinople. This would have guaranteed control of the Bosphorous which in turn guaranteed access to the Black Sea. This programme concludes with the disastrous naval engagement of 18th March. One which meant that from that time forward the Gallipoli campaign would be a combined operation with the army committed to a landing on the peninsula. On the 25th April 1915 allied soldiers were landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula. It was the first time that an amphibious landing had been attempted on this scale. Such an ambitious attack was fraught with danger as the assaulting troops quickly discovered. The Australian and New Zealand troops landed at a place that has become a legend in the national consciousness of those two countries - ANZAC. Further south at Cape Helles the elite troops of the British 29th. regular division were put ashore with mixed results. At 'V' and 'W' beaches the Turks were waiting. The result was carnage. This programme goes on to detail that fateful day and the subsequent nine month campaign as the allies strove to maintain their tenuous hold on the peninsula. The final irony of the Gallipoli campaign came with the decision to evacuate nearly 100 000 troops. The irony being that after nine months of desperate fighting and 50 000 dead the men were evacuated without loss.

The Queen also owns the Tower of London, part of a collection of Historic Royal Palaces, and also the Royal Collection, to which she has added nearly 150 portraits over the past six decades.Episode 4: TravellerThe Queen is head of the sixteen realms which make up the Commonwealth. In Perth, Western Australia, we observe The Queen on tour before opening the Heads of Government Meeting. This is a meeting which is especially important for the monarchy; the Commonwealth countries are being asked to change the rules of succession so that a first-born girl might inherit the crown.
