A fascinating insight into the cockpit of a classic fighter. A pilot's-eye view. In 1944 as the allied daylight bombing offensive moved further eastward into Europe the North American P-51 Mustang provided much-needed air superiority. It had the range and the firepower to ride shotgun for the bombers escorting them all the way to Germany and all the way home again. It was without doubt one of the most important fighters of the war. The aircraft featured in this DVD is the definitive version. It's a P-51 D powered by a Packard Merlin engine and operated by a group of Warbird enthusiasts out of Caboolture Airfield near Brisbane Queensland Australia. It was flown for Classic Cockpits by Matt Hall an ex-R.A.A.F. FA/18 pilot who at the time of the shooting was Australia's only representative in the Red Bull Air Race Team.
