Superb, excellent entertainment. Much better than expected. Funny like the American Pie series, really side splitting. Highly recommended and its a decent 2 hour movie. Extras worth the watching also, some funny reels there too.
I haven't laughed so much in ages, from beginning to end it was absolutely hilarious. The main characters are so funny and quite loveable, the relationship the group of 'lads' who work together have reminded me of an expanded version of Joey and Chandler in friends. It would appeal to both men and women, my hubby loved it. I don't think the 'clip' which is used to advertise it does it justice as it just looks like a silly smutty film which it really isn't. It seems ridiculous that a man could still be a virgin at 40 but once you see the reasons why (very funny flashbacks of past embarrassing experiences as a teenager / young man) and get to know Andy Stilzer (main characture) you can see how it could happen.
I would highly recommend it, I have seen it twice now and am thinking of buying the DVD to put on at times when I need a bit of a lift !!!!!
Steve Carell is excellent playing the character of Andy Stitzer. He works in an electrical appliances store, with cool friends but they find out his problem and the quest to lose his virginity begins.
The 40-year-old Virgin is, without a doubt, one of the most side splitting comedies of the year. It is ridiculously hilarious - the title suggests why.

Ribald comedy starring Steve Carell. Andy Stitzer (Carell) is a 40-year-old geek who works in an electronics store and seems content with his life and with his collection of comic books and action figures. But when his co-workers find out that Andy is still a virgin, they decide to set him up with a woman so he can finally have sex. After some horrendous dates, Andy meets single-mother Trish (Catherine Keener), a woman who genuinely seems to like him and who has just come out of a destructive relationship. But what Andy's friends don't know is that Trish isn't quite ready for a physical relationship with him yet, and that he's going to have to wait a bit longer before he can lose his virginity.
Please note this is a region 2 DVD and will require a region 2 (Europe) or region Free DVD Player in order to play. Better late than never... Some may say 40 year-old Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) has it all: a great job working at an electronics store; an awesome collection of superhero figures and comic books; friendly elderly neighbours who he watches TV with; and a few cool friends. However, there's just one small problem... he's still a virgin! Once his co-workers find out about his secret they start a mission to get Andy laid ASAP! But nothing seems to work... until Andy meets 40 year-old mother of three, Trish - a woman who doesn't want sex in her relationships!
