When police officer Andreas (Coster-Waldau) finds the neglected baby boy of two drug addicts he reports it to the authorities who choose not to get involved since the child is not malnourished. Still grieving from the loss of his own child, Andreas kidnaps the infant and takes him home to his wife Anne (Maria Bonnevie) so they can look after him. When Andreas's colleague Simon (Ulrich Thomsen) discovers what he has done he tries to resolve the situation. Meanwhile, the threat of losing another child drives Andreas and Anne to despair...
