An adaptation of J.M. Barrie's role reversal play poking fun at the English class system. When self-reliant English butler Crichton (Kenneth More) is shipwrecked along with his aristocratic employers on a desert island, he ends up becoming the island's governor and lording it over his previous employer, Lord Loam (Cecil Parker).
