On the verge of the breakthrough of his career an ambitious young journalist learns that his mother is dying. The discovery forces him to re-evaluate his life and responsibilities; particularly when he inherits he care of his younger sister Roberta who has Down's Syndrome and has always lived at home. Emotional drama about a young man and his disabled sister. High-flying journalist Kenny Brogan (Kevin McKidd) is working on the story that could make his career when he finds out that his mother is terminally ill. In the absence of his father, this means that the responsibility for looking after his Down's Syndrome sister Roberta (Paula Sage) falls to him. Conflicted by the desire to pursue his career and the difficulties in looking after his sister, Kenny at first begins to resent Roberta, until gradually realising how much she means to him.
