This is the latest release (January 2011) of the marvellous Hercule Poirot murder mystery series. Based on the books by Agatha Christie, the stories star actor David Suchet who has been awarded a CBE in the 2010 honours list. The DVD contains four new feature length Poirot whodunits plus some bonus content (behind the scenes of the Orient Express plus a 60 min programme by David Suchet on the history and romance of the Orient Express). The four stories are:
1. "The Three Act Tragedy" - This episode guest-stars Martin Shaw as Sir Charles Cartwright, a retired... actor who attempts to help Poirot investigate the death of one of his house guests. The plot thickens as another friend of Cartwright is poisoned at a dinner party several miles away and a hospital patient who had previously contacted Poirot is also found dead. Hercule Poirot employs "the little grey cells" and manages to link the murders and find the killer.
2. "The Halloween Party" - Crime writer Ariadne Oliver, a good friend of Poirot's, attends a children's Halloween party where a young girl claims to have witnessed a murder years before. She is later found drowned. Ariadne asks Poirot to look into the case which includes investigating a number of suspicious deaths occurring in the preceding few years. When the girl's younger brother is also found drowned, panic sets into the village but as usual Poirot manages to solve the crime.
3. "Murder on the Orient Express" - As Poirot is travelling from Istanbul to London on the Orient Express he is offered ten thousand dollars by business man Samuel Ratchett to act as his bodyguard. Poirot declines the job but after Ratchett is found stabbed to death, he sets about finding the assassin with the help of Dr Constantine (Samuel West). This adaptation of Agatha Christie's most popular novel was directed by acclaimed director Philip Martin (BAFTA winner) and has an impressive international cast list including Dame Eileen Atkins, Hugh Bonneville, Jessica Chastain plus many more.
4. "The Clocks" - Poirot helps Lieutenant Colin Race to find the killer of a man found stabbed to death in Dover. Sheila Webb, who discovered the body, remembers hearing a cuckoo clock chime three o'clock. Poirot's interest is immediately aroused when he notices that all the other clocks in the house say 4.15. His determination and attention to detail lead him once again to discover the evil perpetrator of the crime.

Four feature-length murder mysteries starring David Suchet as moustache-twirling Belgian detecive Hercule Poirot. In 'The Clocks' (2009), typist Sheila Webb (Jaime Winstone) arrives at 19 Wilbraham Crescent in Dover to find a well-dressed corpse surrounded by five clocks, each one set to a different time. Could there be a connection with the recent discovery of a German mole within the Navy? In 'Three-Act Tragedy' (2010), retired actor Sir Charles Cartwright (Martin Shaw) invites thirteen guests for dinner. By the end of the evening one of the guests is dead, apparently poisoned - but the complete lack of an apparent motive leaves Poirot perplexed. In 'Halloween Party' (2010), Poirot is reunited with his old friend, crime novelist Ariadne Oliver, (Zoe Wanamaker), to investigate the drowning of two children at a Halloween party. In Agatha Christie's best-known mystery 'Murder on the Orient Express' (2010), Poirot must eliminate a long list of suspects to find the real killer after businessman Samuel Ratchett (Toby Jones) is found stabbed to death on the luxury rail route The Orient Express. Samuel West, Hugh Bonneville, Eileen Atkins and Barbara Hershey co-star.
