In 'Airport 1975' (1974), a plane en route from Washington DC to Los Angelese suffers a mid-air collision, killing its pilot. Ace pilot Alan Murdock (Charlton Heston) is lowered by helicopter into the stricken jet to save the day. In 'Airport '77' (1977), Jack Lemmon stars as the pilot of James Stewart's private 747 which crashes into the Atlantic Ocean after being sabotaged. A dangerous rescue bid follows.
