When ten-year-old Karen (Brooke Shields in her first screen appearance) is killed in church on the occasion of her first communion, her seemingly innocent older sister Alice (Paula Sheppard) becomes the prime suspect. Matters become complicated as more of Alice s family members are attacked, along with residents of her apartment building. Can a twelve-year-old girl be capable of such mayhem, or is someone else with a vicious plan destroying her family?

12-year-old Alice's family cannot believe that she killed her sister, Karen, at her Holy Communion, despite the fact that all the evidence points to her being guilty. As further terrible events take place for which it seems Alice is also responsible, the girl is forced to take a lie detector test. Police are amazed that she passes after claiming that it is the late Karen who is committing the terrible deeds. Is Alice really being haunted by her sister from beyond the grave?
