Family drama about a young girl who finds solace in the company of animals as she comes to terms with the sudden death of her mother. Vivien Cardone stars as 12-year-old Belle, whose life is blown apart when her mother is killed in a car accident and she is sent to stay with her maternal grandfather Hock (Peter Coyote) on his ranch. Each grappling with their own pain from the shared tragedy, the cantankerous old man and his rebellious granddaughter find it difficult to relate to one another at first, but they eventually find common ground as Belle becomes increasingly involved with the animals on the ranch.
